Nose Surgery

We can all look in the mirror and find something wrong with our nose. Either we have a large nose, a wide nose, flared nostrils, a bump or depression on our nasal bridge, an asymmetrical nose or impaired breathing due to airway obstruction. These are just some of the many conditions that make rhinoplasty an option for reducing self-consciousness and enhancing the shape, size, and general appearance of your nose.

The Procedure
There are two different procedures "closed" rhinoplasty and "open" rhinoplasty. In "closed" rhinoplasty, Dr. Work makes an incision inside the nostrils. In "open" rhinoplasty, an incision is made along the columella, the vertical strip of tissue separating the nostrils, as well as within the nostrils. Working through these incisions, the cartilage is sculpted to achieve the desired shape. After this, the skin and soft tissues are draped over the reshaped framework.

Before and After
The first day after your surgery, you will need to keep your head elevated so as to minimize swelling. Activity must be kept to a minimum and you may have small amounts of bleeding and stuffiness. Within the first ten days, swelling will peak and being to subside. Bruising will diminish, stitches are removed or dissolve. You can return to non-strenuous work and you can wear makeup to conceal discoloration. Within several weeks, you can resume exercise and normal activity and most of the swelling will disappear.
