The Procedure
In this procedure either excess skin or excess fat in the lower abdomen is removed. Upper abdominal fat can also be thinned by elevating and redistributing it. Stretch marks that may be present below the belly button can also be removed with this surgery. The abdominal muscles are sewn together very tightly in the midline in order to strengthen the abdominal wall and accent the waist line. The remaining upper abdominal skin is then shared to resurface the entire abdomen. The belly button is saved and then brought through the remaining skin at the correct level; the abdomen is re-contoured so that the scar is low and hidden.

Before and After
The abdomen scar will fade with time. After the surgery, you will be down for 10-14 days and non-strenuous work can be resumed after this time. Regular exercise and normal activity can be resumed after four to six weeks.
